Sodïq Oyèkànmí is a Nigerian poet, playwright, dramaturge, and editor. He holds a BA in Theatre Arts from the University of Ibadan, specializing in Acting and Dramaturgy. He serves as a freelance Poetry Editor at Lucent Dreaming. His work has appeared in Frontier Poetry, Modern Poetry in Translation, Passages North, Poetry Wales, Strange Horizons, Uncanny Magazine, Brittle Paper, and elsewhere. He is a 2024 Best of the Net winner and 2x Pushcart Prize nominee.

About the Fellow

Sodïq Oyèkànmí is a Nigerian poet, playwright, dramaturge, and editor whose work explores marital dysfunction, grief, depression, finding oneself, love, and heart-quakes. A graduate of the University of Ibadan with a degree in Theatre Arts specializing in Acting and Dramaturgy, he brings a unique performative sensibility to his poetry.

His impressive publication record spans both literary and speculative fiction venues, including Frontier Poetry, Modern Poetry in Translation, Passages North, Poetry Wales, Strange Horizons, Uncanny Magazine, and Brittle Paper. His 2024 Best of the Net win and two Pushcart Prize nominations attest to the consistent excellence of his craft.

A 2022 Lagos/London Poetry Competition winner and Poetry Translation Centre (UK) UNDERTOW Fellow, Oyèkànmí bridges Nigerian and international literary communities. He currently serves as a freelance Poetry Editor at Lucent Dreaming, contributing to the literary ecosystem both as creator and curator.
