His work has appeared in Electric Literature, The Republic, Frontier Poetry, Poet Lore, Poetry Wales, Lolwe, Brittle Paper, Isele Magazine, and elsewhere.

About the Fellow

Adesiyan Oluwapelumi is an African poet and naturalist whose work explores the intersectionality between memory, language, identity, religion, and selfhood. As a medical student in Ibadan, he brings a unique scientific perspective to his poetry while maintaining deep roots in the literary traditions of Nigeria.

His selection by Chris Abani and Kwame Dawes for the APBF New-Generation African Poets Chapbook Box-set Series places him among the most promising voices of his generation. The forthcoming chapbook Mouthful with Cinders (Akashic Books, 2025) represents a significant milestone in his young career.

His craft makes a conscious move away from the first-person narrator and into the collective plural voice, allowing for accessibility and creative freedom beyond lived experience. His extensive publication record across prestigious venues including Electric Literature, The Republic, Frontier Poetry, and Poetry Wales demonstrates his ability to reach both African and international literary audiences.
